Cranes, the Japanese symbol of happiness and longevity, are often folded as origami and given to friends and family. Traditionally, it was believed that if you folded 1,000 cranes ("senbazuru") your wish would come true. In modern times, the crane is a symbol of hope and healing during challenging periods.

"One Crane" suggests what could happen if only we all made a wish, and folded our cranes, for peace around the world.

Lyrics

ONE CRANE by Stuart Stotts

One crane, two cranes, three cranes, four

We can make an end to war

Five cranes, six cranes, seven cranes, eight

We can change, it’s not too late

Circle of our cranes around the world

For every boy and every girl

Circle of our cranes from hand to hand

For every home in every land

One song, two songs, three songs, four

We can make an end to war

Five songs, six songs, seven songs, eight

We can change, it’s not too late

Circle of our songs around the world

For every boy and every girl

Circle of our songs from hand to hand

For every home in every land

One friend …(hand in hand)

One dream…

First verse in Japanese:

Ichi wa, ni wa, san wa no tsuru

Senso ga owaru yo

Go, roku, nana wa no tsuru

Watashi no negai hayaku

Watashi no negai hayaku

Songs, cranes...What else could we have circling around the world? Hearts? Love? Friends?
