No Two Alike

Music and lyrics by Kate Carpenter

©2017 Kate Carpenter

This song is about learning to get along with others, despite our differences.  The chorus is very singable.  Song uses two metaphors:  Pot of Stew and a Box of Paints.  It takes all kinds to make a world!   There's a good teaching about getting along and anger management, too.

Lyrics

Let’s cook a pot of stew,

We’ll add onions and potatoes

Throw in a few green beans

And a couple chopped tomatoes

It’s amazing how those flavors blen

It’s amazing how those flavors blend

To make it so delish.

And for our troubled world,

I’ve a message and a wish.

CHORUS:  There’s no two alike

We’re different as we can be

I like the way God made you

And I hope you like the way He made me.

We’re all in this together

So let’s all try to see

How each one has a special spot

In earth’s great family.

Let’s paint a pretty picture

With a lot of different hues

Black and brown and yellow

Red and green and blue

It’s amazing how the rainbow glows

To soothe my weary eyes

And here’s a little message

For the foolish and the wise:   SING CHORUS

BRIDGE: We’re not a box of paints

And we’re not a pot of stew.

We’re people who make choices

In what we say and do.

It only takes two to tangle

It only takes two to fight.

It only takes two to talk things out

And two to make it right.

As far as it depends on me

And it depends on you.

Let’s be a peaceful people

In what we say and do.

It’s amazing how a little love

Can spread the world ‘round

Let’s join our hands and sing

And lift up the peaceful sound:  SING CHORUS

Stand in a circle. Point to You and Me. Hold hands and move in circular motion.  Hold up hands "We're all in this together".

Make fighting fists and drop them.  (tangle and fight)
