“We Are All Connected” is featured on Sue Straw’s album Native American Songs and Stories Vol 1,which received the “Best Spoken Word/Folk Recording Award” from the Native American Music Association in 2016. Sue writes, “A few years ago, Monty Harper, another Oklahoma children’s musician/songwriter, did a call out to CMN for anyone who wanted to donate or write a song for an Earth Day presentation he was going to do for some adults. I wanted to contribute something, and so, using inspiration from my Native American ancestors, I wrote ‘We Are All Connected.’ Native American music consists of singing, percussion, and rattles, and thus there are no chords. I put it in the key of E minor so that children could play it easily on their recorders.”
